I am pondering installing a strainer that my drain tubes would feed into before dumping back into the sump. Be basically the same as a filter sock but would be easily cleaned. Thoughts?

Interesting idea. Since I haven't used one, I have no idea how it works. If / when it clogs, where will the water go? Will it create back pressure or will it bypass somewhere? Is it gravity fed or do you need water pressure as well?
It will be gravity fed. I am gonna give it a shot. If I see that it plugs up too quickly I will simply remove the strainer from the bowl and basically run without it. They come in different sizes of mesh so I could experiment that way too. The inlet/outlet are 2" on it so I will have to use reducers. I have two 1" drains on the tank that i will probably pipe into 1.5" pipe before going into the strainer.

I'd be worried about a flood. Filter socks clog and overflow into the sump. This clogs and your overflow box is the only way for the water to go. Up.....
but, that being said, Ive never tried one. Best of luck!
