Hi all -

I have some weird gray stuff (looks like long strands of dust) in the bottom of my tank. It only occurs where I have some large slates set up. I've tested my water quality and everything seems to be fine (Nitrates, ammonia at 0 ppm) and the tank is cycled. I did a google search for gray algae but did not find anything. Does anyone know what this stuff could possibly be and should I worry?

Thanks

What fish do you have there? I am guessing slime coat were scraped off as the fish edges to the slates. A lot of fish produce excess slime coat and some get scraped off when they swim around decorations. Nothing to be worried about though.

wow - that actually makes a lot of sense. I had a NTT (dat) in there along with a sun cat and jardini (all small, ranging from ~4-6 inches) and I found the NTT dying a couple nights ago - I quickly moved him to a medical tank but he ended up dying. In any case the NTT was in that area. Thanks a lot Lupin!
