strange african fighting my s/a

well my sister has a african cichlid in my tank and it fights off verything except my 3 inchs oscar and 2 inch texas the african is 2 inches it usually fights with the convict.it seems to be guardian the little treasure chest.and no it does not have eggs.but what do you think.is it fighting for the chest
