So on monday i got new glass panels to replace my old acrylic cover tops for my 150 gallon. Ever since then, my cichla have been acting very strange. When i put in their floating food: aro sticks, bio gold +, cichlid gold, fd krill, they usually would all be waiting near the surface and compete for every last piece of food. After i got the new glass tops, they seem scared to go anywhere near the top. They will dart up and grab a piece of food and then quickly dive back down. I have even seen them dart up half way, get spooked and go right back down. Anyone have ideas on what is happening? I also feed them massivore, and they are eating that just fine because it is sinking down to them. I did a 40% WC last night and the parameters are ph 7.8, ammonia 0, nitrite 0, nitrate 30 ppm.

I would guess reflection. It has to be more prominent on glass than acrylic. They should get used to it eventually.

hope they get used to it soon, trying to bulk them up and its hard if they wont eat lol. Guess ill just have to stuff them with massivore and yeah the old cover was really old acrylic that has white hard water stains all over it, so it looks cloudy.

I think they will be good pretty fast. I would think that they would eventually realize that what they are seeing is not a threat. Kind of like how some fish are scared of people at first, but they generally quickly adjust.
