I've had my Ehiem 2217 running on a 40 gallon breeder along with a cascade 300 HOB filter, the only fish in the tank are 2 baby Oscars about 4". So far the water has been crystal clear and the Ehiem has been running perfectly, my only problem is a white build up on the inside of both hoses that when pinched shoots into my tank in the form of what appears to be little bits of paper. It is then sucked back in, anyone know what this is and hoe to make it go away.

Thanks in advance.

The "paper" is bacteria buildup in the hoses. Nothing to worry about. This happens to me every time I clean my canister. The pressure during start up blows some of this out of the hose and into the tank.

I had this too, recently i got a huge blast of it from the hose, it looked like confetti. my fish went nuts trying to eat it all. there was no way to clean it out in time. will it hurt the fish?

I get it 2 . My fish have tried eating mostly just spit it back out but a few have eaten it and it has never done any harm. It has happened on and off for years with no ill effect.

Just picked up a 2217, thanks for the heads up.
