My 12" tilapia buttikoferi has been acting strange, he's relatively dark in color, possibly because of the black background, or I've heard they tend to stay dark as they age, but I haven't seen his white in quite a while. Lately he has started. Swimming parallel to the bottom of his tank and rubbing on the gravel as though he's trying to scratch an itch.
He's developing white 'pits' on his nostrils and around his eyes, as well as the bottom side of his jaw, I was thinking hith but that doesn't line up with the water changes and parameters, I have dutifully not neglected his care but I'm thinking its either bacterial or possibly parasites?
I'm planning on getting a general antibiotic regimen started, if anything just to see if its truly bacterial. But before I go adding chemicals that only has a possibility of curing him I figured I would consult with my gurus. He's by himself, and he's my pride and joy, I've had him since he was an egg, any help or advice MFK could offer is well appreciated.
