So I bought 4 new 2" clown loaches today, and I already had about a 4 " in there. So 3 of the new ones have started to shoal with my old guy except 1 of the new ones won't have anything to do with the others he just hides under a rock while the others swim freely. Seems a little weird.

Ok I think this is the same kind of loach I had. The behave of the loaches depend on the whether . So the one loach might be hiding because there's going to be a storm or something like that.if there is a storm cover any holes in the tank lid loaches will jump out if there's a big Change of whether or if there being bulled

I had a very small CL do the same thing. For the first few weeks he just did his own thing. Now he mixes it up, sometimes he's on his own and the rest of the time he is right with the rest of the group.

Keep a close eye on him...if you notice any signs of ich, raise the temp to 86F (treat for Ich immediately).

I've had new loaches do the same thing...I made the assumption he was just shy, but then when he finally emerged from his hiding spot he was covered in Ich. Hopefully he's just getting adjusting, but there's a chance he has Ich (which CLs are notorious for being infested with it).

I have a loaner. He's been with me for about 8-10 months now. He's the smallest of my group of 13. He's almost never with any of the others. Mine don't shoal together all that much, but there's usually a decent number of them together at any one time. I agree to check for illness first, but it may just be a socially awkward loach :)

This is how mine are. Of 9 clown loaches it is usually a group of 2-4 just roaming around.

My favorite fish, but they drive me crazy. I have 3, two are 4" + and a 6" + monster. They sleep on top of each other, upside down, on their sides and on their backs. More than half the time I think they are dead.

my fave fish as well. iv got 7 atm ranging from 3" to 8". they have random mood swings. if he's new, he's probably just adjusting however just like someone mentioned earlier, keep an eye out for ich.
