I saw some eggs - at least I think they were eggs - at a local freshwater pond today. This is in eastern NC. The eggs were inside some kind of clear mucous tube, about 1/4" in diameter in just a few inches of water. The tubes were all tangled up and looked to be several feet long....20 or more. The eggs themselves were solid black and about 1/8" or a tad smaller.
Anybody know what these are? This stocked pond is supposed to have only Bass, Bluegill and grass carp in it.
