So we have only had two feather dusters since starting our marine tank, and have always been scared of getting them due to the fact that we have two small puffers and where told the puffers would mostly "destroy" them. Well for several months they lived happily together until one night the puffers did in fact "destroy" one.
So after that we re-organized the tank, and the puffers cant even find the other duster, or hate going to where he is at least and leaves him alone.
But as of recent the feather duster has been acting different than normal and is physically changing.
One day I got up and suddenly realized that he had what looked like two crowns on his head, both of them larger than any normal one he ever had, but he still had only one body. His tube opening had just morphed into an "8" and a crown was coming out of both and connecting to each other in the middle.
And because of this he looks huge. He used to have a max diameter of 2-2.5", yet now his diameter would be around 4-5". And now I have noticed that he will occasionally spin his body in his tube and his crowns will twirl around as if making his tube opening even larger.
Is this normal for him to be doing? I've never owned feather dusters before so I'm not sure what to expect from them. I was told they could reproduce, but in this case it looks like he for some reason just doubled the size of his feathers, and their number.
