So I have had two of my fish in the past three days die, and I have no clue why one was a leaffish, and the other a bumblebee catfish. When I look at them they have no recognizable diseases on them, it just they keeled over. And I dont know why. Any ideas

Howdy,

Have you changed anything in your tank? New fish within the last few weeks, feeder fish? Also, have you changed your water the day before?

Bummer Don,

I'm not gonna lie though, it was funky when we say your leaffish swimmin around fine, then just keel over all the sudden. I'll have those PH strips by the end of the week, we'll see what they say

I added a couple fish including four feeder fish, the bumblebee, but the leaffish right before the water change and the bumble bee right after

somtimes new water needs to establish a biologcal filter that converts ammonia to nitrite to nitrate. if you change too much water it may have thrown your nitrogen cycle off and killed your fish. i used to not believe in new tank syndrome but it has happend to me and it killed a few of my fish. i usually let my tank settle for at least two to three days before adding new fish

New Tank? Fed the feeder fish, Ammonia released, Ammonia poisoning?

How big is your tank? When did you set it up?

My best guess is that your fish died from using unestablished water as most are saying. Fish also may have died of distress from abrupt temperature change or incorrect temperature to begin with (perhaps combined with unestablished water). Also, Ornaments/rocks may be toxic or emitting small particles into the water. Unlikely, but possible. Any "found objects" in the tank?

The tank has been established since august, and its only a 20 gallon. And I removed the cholrine. The only thing I could think of is maybe its a little to warm it hovers around 80 degrees.

Howdy,

Take your time and write down what you think - don't just drop words in a random order ;)

If I understand you correctly, there were two new factors:
1) New fish: Potential disease - how long before the death did you add the fish incl. feeders?
2) Water change. You said you used conditioner. What brand? Many only clear out chlorine. It could be a heavy metal poisoning, especially if construction was done on pipes - either in your house, your street, or remotely which you wouldn't be able to tell.
