Help! I have a 5 by 2 ft tank that used to house a number of large fish.Over the last week I have lost 2 large Clown knife fish; a 40cm perruno cat; 2 20cm silver sharks;a mystis cat;and a pangassi all too a strange fungal infection. However this infection isn't the normal fluffy cotton wool type growths that appear over the body. I've had this before and have always been successfull in treating this.
The white stringy growths start of over the fishes eyes, eating away at the flesh and eventually spread to their gills. At the moment I have an oscar and amazon cichlid blinded by it. It is so devastating to watch these fish and not be able to treat them. I have tried the conventional off the shelf treatments like Protizin methylen blue and aquarium salts. Also done water changes, taken out all the rocks and bog wood.Tried dipping the larger fish in salt water solution.Even tried dipping in a weak formalin solution(200ppm). Nothing seems to combat it.My remaining fish are all off their food and I am totally at a loss. Any advice would be eagerly welcomed.

I had the same problem, but it only affected my loaches. It was like their skin just rotted off. I lost them in 24 hours. No treatment would work! Sorry I can't help you.

i HAVE READ ABOUT ALOT OF WEIRD TYPE DISEASES but this one is horrible to say the least..i can amagine what your going through and i hope you get some answers fast.

No new fish.Did introduce a new plant but that was transfered from another aquarium I have and there is nothing wrong with that one. I had the water tested by my local fish shop and they showed that the water was fine. The strange thing is that this fungas only affects some of the fish, others seem imune to it. My kissing gouramis and one earth eater are in perfect condition. Thanks anyway.

We need test results fast! What is the temp and pics would be golden for you right now.....

Do you have any photos of the diseased fish. They may help in diagnosing the illness.
