Strange Foam

hey all, i have a 40 gallon with a big piece of driftwood that i got from the local resevoir, I treated the drift wood, and its been in there for approx a week now, but over the last 2 days ive noticed a white foam, maybe a 1/4 inch thick developing over half of my tank, the same side as the filter,. Was wondering if its harmless? or what it could be from. Any ideas help!

what did you treat the wood with , just plan water??? and it should have been soaking for easlly a month , and find out threw you town hall(wetland's dept )what the resovior is contaminated with , it could give you some sort of idea's as to what the foam maybe...

Ah, I have a couple pieces in one tank and the foam is going away after a couple of months but the fish are just fine. probably just something in the wood leaching out still. I called it 'rabid tank syndrome'.
