Hey guys,
Been a while since I could post in the catfish section since I've been working so much at my job, and my tank build. Just thought I would share some pics with you guys of what's been happening with my biggest catfish. For those who don't know this is my 38" RTC x TSN hybrid and as of two weeks ago he's been changing his pigment. Not strange for catfish to have quick changes in pigment under adverse lighting conditions, but this is just strane. I've had all his spots dissappear around this time last year, but this one really throws me for a loop. Straight down the center of his body there is a seperation in his coloration. One side of his body is it's dark normal self, and the other side has been getting lighter and lighter with each passing day. Now when I switched his tanks he didn't eat anything for about 3 months, which is kind of normal for him around this time of the year. Starting when the coloration change happened he started eating again. All of his water params check out fine. Right now I'm housing my oscars with him(all rescues). I noticed he'd started eating again when he had the biggest oscar all but swallowed last week. He ate a nearly 15" oscar. I promptly started feeding him shrimp again and he's been taking a small handfull every other day since then. For certain something is happening that I don't truely understand, but I'll post pics for everyone to see. My flash dulled the effect a little, but it's impossible to get a pic any other way right now. It's much more striking in person, and this was a week ago when I first noticed it. It's much worse now. Enjoy!
