I have two jds. I'm positive one is a male(the bigger, more colorful one), and the other I'm 80% sure its a female(the drab color, smaller, and permanent blue on gills). Normally when they cross paths, the male either chases the female or lets her pass. But more and more I'm starting to see them swim parallel to each other then the male will smack the female with its tail. Does anybody know what this is?

From what I've seen from other people, they can spawn pretty small. It might be him just showing off to her or challenging her to a fight. Hard to know until you see what happens after.

Well I hope they don't breed right now. I'm not prepared to house fry, even if I can sell most of them.
