I'm not sure if this is normal or not, but my ornate has been perching itself up on the glass with its tail on the ground, kind of leaning on the back of the tank. Is this normal? Or is this a stress behaviour? This is my first ornate, I've only kept Senegal's thus far. To be more specific he's kind of leaning on his tail on the bottom of the tank, and using his pectorals fins to flutter up to the glass, then he just chills for a lil, sometimes longer then others. Instead of caves I have heavily planted corners of the tank, my wolf has claimed one and the bichir another on opposite sides. Both have fake floating plants over them.

Could be that your ornates retarded. Lol jk. I think thats normal. My sens do that sometimes as well as my del. They relax in diff strange positions and like to chill anywhere. Mine even hangs out over the powerhead just under the surface

I'm not understanding his position is he just like straight in the water not leaning on anything? Also what size is it? Did you get it recently? Also pics would help

If it's the chillin thing it's normal, but the things which your ornate is doing is... I dont get it? pics?

I read your post again and what your saying (from what I'm reading) he is leaning on the glass with his tail on the ground and head on the glass? If that's the case then he should be fine just testing in an awkward position

Mine does similar but on a piece of wood not the glass. Just relaxing I guess.

Yes the head and pectorals are up on the glass, I made this when I was at work but I'll try to get pics up when im home at 11, if he is doing that. Since my red wolf is quite aggressive I wanted to make sure it wasn't a stress behaviour. I never saw my Senegal's do this on the glass just on decor and they were smaller then the Ornate. He may even be trying to hunt because I feed them Dalmatian mollies (bred by me). I just worry the red wolf beats up on the ornate, never seen it happen but the red has gotten really close to the ornate and he lunges a lil bit and red backs off

yeah i wouldn't keep a wolf with them if they are small they're really aggressive if i've heard right they are best solitary
