strange pink growth thing on beautiful managuense

yea, my jag has this weird pinkish growth thing on his gill plate. its soft because i can see it move when his fin brushes it. he has had it for several weeks now and im getting concerned. he already has a little knob on his nose from rolling rocks and driftwood around. i hope i dont have to pull him out and cut it off......scary thought. can somebody help? any help is greatly appreciated. iput this in this forum because i wasnt getting any replies in the other forum

Most likely its either an infected cut or a lesision(growth).
Add some aquarium salt, do a 50% water change, and turn up the heat.
Whats your water parameters right now?

It may be a clam. Clams spend their juvenile lives attached to the inside of a fish's gills filter feeding. Once it gets big enough, it drops off and grows a shell.

Ps. I think it's Marsh Clams that have this type of life cycle.
