I have had my Polypterus senegalus for a long time now aka steven seagal. The problem is that he cant keep his ass down. Anytime he tries to swim down his ass is straight up in the water. I need help I dont want to lose this dude.

That's a very general question, because it makes it sound like it could be a swim bladder issue but then again it could also just be gas bubble, In while I'm not sure how you could get a poly to eat a frozen pea or two. Anyway bottom line can you give some more detail of the situation a photo or even a video of this activity of floating would be helpful to anyone here. =j

he either has a gas bubble or (if he's small) is just following his natural instincts and staying at the top. It seems to be he has a gas bubble. I had the same thing with one of my polys (lol and i freaked out), but eventually he will fart, and everything will be ok.

either bloat or it's a young bichir. My baby bichirs also had the same issue when it was around 3-4 inches. They were always on top of the tank and had their bodies on a weird angle. That instinct change once it grew.

Mines probably around 5 inches I don't know how old that would put him.

i have 5"ers that still do that. What kind of decoration do you have in your tank? do you even have decorations?

pics would help, but i'm pretty sure he's just got either and air bubble or is just chilling at the top
