so I finally got a little larger tank 135 gal and I already have a firemouth (grey/orange/red), salvini (yellow/red), and green terror (green/blue).

can y'all give me opinions on the best cichlid for a particular color?

for example,

white - argentea -> zonatus
red - festae -> brasiliensis (red variety)
black - haitiensis -> tetracanthus

I'm not necessarily looking for a colorful fish (synspilum) but ones that are nicely of a main specific color. then I can see if it will work in my setup. (yeah like the black nasty will work...:))

thanks!

female festae

male festae, not quite so red

haitiensus female,
although a 135 is a bit small for haitiensus especially with other fish

although I would hardly consider a male haitiensus black

135 would be better suited for tetracanthus

argentea, are not white to me, maybe just my eyes, but very similar in color to male haitiensus, and also, get a bit large for a 135, again, especially a community tank

the idea was not that it was all one color but predominantly of a color. I was thinking instead of having a bunch of cichlids some of which would look similar in size and shape to just kind of see how the tank would look with differing colors. yeah I was leaning to getting he Cuban. I was hoping the argentea would work as I think it is one of the prettiest cichlids out there. just looking for ideas from those who have cichlids rather than googling and getting disappointed the fish I get doesn't match the pictures on the web. thanks for sharing.
