strange shark

anyone ever heard of a rat tail shark (i think that's what they called it), saw it on the National geographic Chanel. it was a deep sea shark lives off the east coast of the U.S. it was black spotted and has really long butterfly-like pectoral fins.

i can't find any thing on it though, no images or info or any thing so I'm thinking i got the name wrong.

any ideas one a web site or something with a lot of info on strange sharks?
 
I have a feeling it was one of the chimaera, fish that are sometimes called rat-tails, goblin sharks, rat fish, and even rabbitfish. there are many species, most are deep water.

Definately a cool looking fish/shark/creature.

these are absolutly my FAVORTIE fish of all time!!!!
goota love chimeras, best fish on the planet! The Aquarium of the Pacific in longbeach california has like 4....i love um!
