Very much south..
Both rescued.
Both fed flakes from fry.

Since i got them, i put them eating massivore and nls.

Could this be due to more hard food than they ever tasted?

Due to lip locking, i only observed once?

It does not get worse in the barred once, where i noticed it 3 days ago.

Yellow was noticed today...

Have both in separate hosp tanks, with salt and epsom salt.

Have lowered temps....

What say you?View attachment 883170View attachment 883171View attachment 883172

That looks like "Duck Lips". I've never seen it in person but reading up on it one of the only cures that has been known to be effective is to drop the temperature below 24C and treat with a combination Erythromycin and Metronidazole. Do you have API products in Portugal? If you do use Erythromycin & API General Cure. Read up on Duck Lips and see what you think. If it is act fast!

It has not gotten any worse in the barred one, Tom. Even improoved somewhat in 3 days.

The yellow got it today. Was with a male. Is in hosp with, as said, olwered temps...

Tough call here with this one. I think lowering the temp slowed it down as the only case of a cure I found reasearching it included the meds I suggested in conjunction with cold water. It's possibile the epsom salt reduced the swelling and the lower temp slowed the bacteria but if returned to normal conditions the bacteria would start growing and the disease would continue to progress. I could be completly wrong but IDK be my line of reasoning seems logical. I wish that Vet was around.

Of course your line of reasoning is logical. It always is.

But have you seen duck lips just on one side of the mouth? Only cases i saw, in pix, admittedly, were central, ie, encompassed, compromiswd the qhole lower lip...

Is it so illogical to be due to diiferent food or inexperiwnce in lip locking, since both were alone allways ans on flakes?

I wish I was more informed when it comes to disease so I could help. Only thing that came to mind was that some wild individual Devils used to come in with large rubbery lips but as they adapted to their captivity the lips shrunk. From what I understand no one was ever able to speculate as to why this happened and why the Devils lost their large lips. Here's a couple of pics from Rapps and Malawidrems.com showing wild Devils with the large lips. So perhaps there's something in your tank stimulating a reversion to a wild appearance. At least I hope there is as it's better than the alternative of a disease.

It is only on the right side of lower lip, Kolt...

( wish i had the secret to revert them to wild appearance :) )

Thank you Tom.

That antibiotic is not available in Portugal.

As to parasites a healthy dose of salt is what i did.

I will put in the airstones.

Water changes i have done, though not 50%...

Bump for more thoughts?
