About a month ago my capranis developed this white spot on his dorsel. At first I thought maybe it was just damaged from running in to something, since it showed up more or less overnight. It's been a month and it still there. It hasn't changed in size or color. None of the other fish have it. The pic's are the best I could get of it. Any ideas what it is or how to get rid of it? It's abiut 2-3mm.

look's almost like an external parasite is the fish itching against the substrate or decorations.

This is what I usually call a fish tumor. I've had customers bring them in with them. and I've once bought a fish with it before, It was part of a group of 6 cupidos. In all the cases bringing it to a tank with less than 40 nitrates and high quality food, shrunk it down to unnoticeable size in a month of two. You can still see a small white spot on the fin usually, but definitely shrunk. I haven't been able to observe this for any longer than 6 months. So I am unsure if it'll ever completely disapear.

hmmm my nirates don't get over 30 in that tank and the food is high quaility. This tank gets a 30% water change every other day.

I had a knight goby with that. I removed it manually... It came back. Never figured out a cure because he was eaten by a shovel nose catfish lol.

I thought about trying to remove it. I did add a bunch of salt to the tank and it srunk considerabily. I'm going to keep doing that to see if it will disappear.

What kind of salt ? I know its a newb thing but I always ask to make sure...
