I decided to post here based on the excellent advice I got on carbon. Just continuing with my fin erosion on SA cichlids, my service company brought up installing a grounding probe to alleviate any stray voltage in the tank. He said this was standard in saltwater tanks--which I obviously do not have. I searched MFK on stray voltage and read up a little but what I saw was a hobbyist looking at aro's that were practically bouncing off the sides of the tank because a light dropped in.

Does this stray voltage deal have any shot on validity regarding fin erosion on severums and uarus? What's next? The UV Sterilizer?

Thanks.

A ground post wont hurt, but I'm not too sure that it will help either. I've never needed one. Also, they are totally worthless if your house (or wherever the tanks may be) is not grounded properly.

I'm not sure, but I've never had it happen and I dont use the grounding posts.
I dont have super bright lighting or other high power devices that would induce current into the water. It would be good for a failure like a broken heater though.
