stream loach

a natural flowing tank would be best since they have adapted to stream currents. thats what i would think is best. :)
 
Hillstream loaches are loaches which are also part of the Cypriniformes order, not catfish. They need a coldwater river setup to be able to thrive for a long time.

You don't necessarily need a river manifold tank to get enough current and oxygenation. Just use a powerful filter and set the outflow well above the water surface; you can also use a combination of powerheads and air pumps. The flow will be less linear, but the fish will still be happy.
