I was wondering how many mfkers actually use stress coat. I was at the store contemplating whether i should get it or not but i dont really use the stuff because i dont like to add chemicals to the water i try to keep it as natural as possible unless im treating them for a sickness. Do you think its more beneficial with the use of stress coat or should i not bother.

I use AmQuel and NovAqua+ for all my tanks on water changes I believe NovAqua is pretty similar to stress coat and I've never tried without it but all my fish are doing amazing and even when they get injured the recover extremely fast. Nothing but positives here hope this helps.. sorry if it doesn't.

It's not bad, to the best of my understanding it's natural based. I only use it for conditioning fish after medicating because it has aloe in it, which aids in the healing process. IME, it has pretty good results in terms of fin regeneration & slime coat production. I prefer prime for general water changes though.

Used to use stress coat until I found Prime to be more cheap in the long run. Although I still have the bottle of Stress Coat which I would use as a band-aid for damaged fins when my fishes get agressive, not much now.

Thanks guys that was a lot of help ill look up nova and prime. my new severum has a little of a receded pectoral fin because he was two days late on arrival to the lfs so it must have stressed him out a little bit.

I use stress coat. My lfs dosn't have prime, otherwise i'd give it a try. But I have never had problems with stress coat.

I only used it before I knew how to keep fish healthy. An overdose can reportedly clog the gills.

i dont really use chemical whether its a water conditioner. i mean like stress coat that only if your fish is really stress try to see that is that reason to it? i could be the water temp. if its sick i would use the api medicine. to me stress coat its just like a water conditioner so i dont see any use for it.
