Hi i'm new to the forum. just want to say this is a great site. my question is i just acquired a 7in red belly from a guy at work who didn't want anymore. I already have a 110gal tank w/ two oscars the red belly has been in the tank for 3 days now. he swims but wont eat. The previous owner never feed him feeders only frozen krill. how long will the Piranha be stressed? is there anything i can do to make it easier for him
thanks ryan

so hes in a tank with 2 oscars? not a good idea...you will have problems..

provide cover, hiding spots and avoid bright lighting and you should keep the stress level pretty low...those oscars are going to get messed up bad though...how big are they?

pics?

i'm more concerned about getting the Piranha to eat can some please give me some advise on that, and also how long it take one to adjust to a new tank

mine started eating only a few hours after getting them but I only had luck with submersed food in the beginning, however now they eat from the top as well.

Leave your oscars in for long enough...he'll eat.

just give it some time, offer him food every day and eventually he will eat. They can go quite some time without food so I wouldnt worry about him starving.

i jsut got 3 from my lfs they are small whne i got them they were skinny!!!!!! i feed them blood worms for now. try that!!!

blood worms are a good idea, toss a frozen cube in the tank and let it float around and melt. the action of the worms in the turbulence of the tank + the smell might get him eating. but i wouldn't worry about his appetite for a few days. if it gets to be a week, you might have to worry....but just be patient for now.

also make sure to remove un-eaten food...unless you have something in that tank that does clean-up on the bottom for you...? when dealing w/ picky fish i think that it is i'mportant that they realize the food comes and then goes and they need to eat when it hits the water. just my opinion.
