My ray seems stressed. He has been raising his front disc on the glass the whole day yesterday and today. I noticed this after doing a 25 pct water change on the tank. He would sometimes climb to the top then down again then raise his disc again on the glass. I also have 2 other rays in the tank and both are doing fine. What should I do to calm him down ? water parameters are all ok . He is in a 350 gallon tank with sump filter. thanks guys !

This is normal behaviour. Have you not noticed your rays do this before?

Hi jim. I have noticed it but the problem with this ray is that he has been doing it constantly the whole day yesterday and today and on the same side/part of the tank . I also forgot to mention that his feeding has also greatly diminished and this makes me worried.

He might be playing. Mine will even go so far as to stay near the top and grab bubbles
I forgot to mention that his feeding has also slowed down. What worries me is that he has been doing it the whole day seems non stop on the same spot in the tank . Seems stressed out after a water change.

I really hope that he returns to his normal self tomorrow. I also noticed that he is also breathing a little heavier. He would raise his disc and sometimes would climb up the glass for a breath then go down again. This would seem to calm him down a little. Then he would do it all over again.

I just noticed you mentioned it was after a 25% water change. I wonder if it could be the contents of your water supply being suspect? I have heard lots of horror stories of this type, more prevalent with rays due to them being a lot more sensitive to it. Still wouldn't explain the other rays being fine though.

Hope its just a normal play thing though, and that he resumes feeding for you

This seems to be normal as I have had my Pup for a month and he does that all day long! My water is pristine.
