It's been almost a week since I brought home the juvi 8" RTG. The first few days everything was perfect and he was eating well but on Saturday I noticed something was nipping it's fins and it wouldn't eat and kept doing the Aro dance against the glass and chilling at the bottom behind my driftwood...I got worried and I didn't know who was the culprit but I assumed it might of been my 6" Rotkeil Redheaded Severum because I saw it slightly chase the RTG away from it's territory. So I took out the Severum and placed it in my 45g for now. Then the next day which was sunday it was still stressed out and still not eating
I also noticed it's fins were more split so the real culprit had to be my 12" Male Frontosa. I had no place to put my Frontosa so I decided to trade it in to my friend's LFS and I was hoping after a few hours my RTG will swim back to the top as usual and this time without any middle swimming tankmates. I got home and about 2 hours later my RTG was still chilling at the bottom.. So I was thinking hmm could it be my clown loaches? I've noticed my Loaches swims all over the place and they horde around my RTG alot...So I took them all out and it took me 1+ hr trying to catch them little buggers
...Now my Aro swims back at the top freely
. Now I just hope the RTG will eat tomorrow as it hasn't ate anything since Friday.
Though in the end I don't think it was my loaches who nipped the RTG's fins but they sure stressed it out. I ended up trading in my Alpha male frontosa for a pair of male/female 7-8" Gold Severums. I also placed my Rotkeil back into the 225 and placed my 4 x 5" NTT Datnoids in there too because my 45g was just getting overcrowded cuz of the clown loaches. As of now my RTG is still swimming at the top instead of being at the bottom
Anyhow sorry for the long story just thought I would share.
