Ok I have a severum that I have had for two weeks. It is about 2" and still has its stress stripes. Is this a juvenile thing because I used to have on and I got it at about 3" and it didn't usually show them..

My green sevs go through many colors just in a day. They can be solid, just a couple of light stripes or even many dark ones. Had mine for over a year and they change patterns for a variety of reasons. No ill effects from doing this.
I as well have a green severum that constantly shows its stripes but isnt stressed at all. Its a normal thing with some types of severums.
yeah agree Sevies go throw out a lot of changes in colors my green one is now Red they are just awesome fish to watch!!
