Hi

I've got a Bifa cichlid I think. Was told its a Bifa or a mix of two on another post I made earlier.

But I think he's stressing my sevrums out and I think they have fin rot. Any way to spread the aggression? He don't bite them jus a chase whole eating.

Thanks

Best to get rid of one or the other. Sev's are pretty peaceful.

Try turning out the light when you feed. My guys seems to be less aggressive during a feeding frenzy with the aquarium lights out.

How about trying a combination of floating and sinking pellets at the same time. Keeps one distracted while the other heads for the other level of the tank.

Are you sure the tail damage is not from nipping?

I do feed the pellets the float and sink nls.

So servs nip each other? It seem like there stressed out/scared.

Any dithers that would be good? If not bye Bifa :(

Thanks

I doubt you'll be able to curve the bifas aggression enough for the severum to feel comfortable. It's in the bifa's nature, and severums typically don't match up very well in that regard. Better to keep the bifa with other semi-aggressive Central American cichlids.

The Bifa is the fish that least fits, IMO. I've read that Nics can be a bit pushy but I don't see why they wouldn't be alright with severums, given that the tank is large enough. You also don't specify what type of eartheater you have (some are more aggressive than others) but they are still usually decent severum tankmates. EBJD and rainbows (if we're talking about A. multispinosus) are fairly placid and should be fine with grown sevs.

Found out its a Vieja hartwegi tailbar cichlid. Yep thats the rainbow we are talking about. Nic is very shy just hides at the moment don't give anyone trouble but don't let anyone in his cave!

Geophagus abalios.

Ok going to sell the bully.... And get some more fish. fun times again :o) firemouth can come back!
