Are there any significant differences in these fish in regards to personality? My LFS has striata in all the time but a website has Dario with free shipping ending today. I'm trying to decide just how much I like the Dario pattern/color compared to the Striata but for me, the Striata seems to win out due the adult color patterns. I just wanted to see primarily if there were any significant personality and social differences between the two.

I prefer the Botia striata. It's the patterns that make me love them more. Botia dario are a little more bolder being able to hold out in skirmishes than the Botia striata.

I have had terrible luck with the Darios, they always have internal parasites.

Good deal then. Went ahead and picked 8 striata up this morning (all they had) They had a 9th but it was MAYBE an inch and was incredibly tiny/skinny. Didn't want to deal with possibly culling it in the long run. They're all huddled up in the corner behind a log right now just relaxing. Gonna keep them in there for 3 weeks and do biweekly 50% water changes on them in the meantime.

That's a good plan. Keep us updated and post pics as much as possible.:)

They're in the 10gallon QT currently with a loan juvie BN. Currently have an AC20 going full tilt which they seem to enjoy. Each evening right before feeding the whole group of them will swim in the current for a bit before going behind a fake log where the current is dead basically and rest. Tank is gravel due to previously having a Betta in there. Gonna switch to sand in the text few months when I have time to run by the construction site. Also included are some updated pics of the 75gallon they will be going in to in the next few weeks.

Healthy specimens! Most of the loaches I find are rather skinny or beyond treatment. Hopefully, they'll make wonderful additions to the main tank.

Looking great. I have a half dozen that I am growing out. Feeding 3-4 times daily. I'm hoping for a sustainable shoal. Best of luck with yours.

They are being fed every 3-4 hours with bits of high protein OSI cichlid flakes, hikari sinking pellets, and in the evening I drop in half an algae wafer broken in to a bunch of small pieces, Ran out of frozen bloodsworms. Need to pick some up next week. They are starting to fatten up a bit, they were a tad on the skinny side when I first got them.
