I'm sure this question has come up plenty of times but I'm a little concerned. I came home and found this massive turd in my ranchu tank. Though some pros can input. Normally I never see stringy poops.

Tank has been up a year and no new additions.

Plecos ranchu and banjo catfish
78 degrees cp3 ac110 and emperor 250. 42 bow front

Treated with tetra fungus every other month as a preventative and rock salt with water changes.

Picture doesn't work.

Google fancy goldfish stringy poop, it is very common. They are constipated, standard solution is feeding shelled peas.

In general diet should have 1 day of peas and 1 day of fasting per week, doing that will go a long way in preventing constipation and swim bladder disease.

Personally I use duckweed instead of peas, but for that you need to grow duckweed in a different tank (they'll eat faster than it grows in their tank).

Thanks for all the info. Looks like you and I groom our fish the same. Currently they are eating duckweed as well, 1 cup with a week, fasting on water change day.. Glow in the dark poops and all. I'll keep monitoring them but haven't seen anymore like that. Had these guys a few years and family really cherishes them. Cheers...ImageUploadedByMonsterAquariaNetwork1389991433.379406.jpg
