strip light problems

i'm havin some troubles with a strip light on a tank i'm selling. when the starter is in, it does the flickering deal without the light actually coming on. BUT, if i screw the starter in right until it locks, the light will come on, but i have to remove the starter. i don't want to sell this thing as is so anyone have any ideas?

Have you tried replacing the starter? Most decent fish stores carry them

yeah it's not the starter

Sounds like a bad/poor connection at the starter

sounds like trash or a fire hazard.

Could be a ballast problem. Might just throw it out and lower the tank price slightly since it wont come with a light

damn. i have another light to go with it, but i'm cleanin shop and wanted to sell that too! oh well thanks guys.
