Just wondering If anyone has successfully kept Striped Bass on here?
I'm beyond fascinated with these fish and am toying with the idea of setting up a tank for some. Just can't fathom how huge of a tank you'd need to properly house them for life.

Hey! Kept bass a while back. My yard flooded and there was a whole school of fry caught inside the brick wall for the patio when the water receded. They where about 3 inches, took to flake rather quickly, and where awesome to watch eat because they would hit the flakes like it was a fly! Rule of thumb as a minimum tank size is max length of fish x 4 for length, x2 for width. For the height of the tank you would have to take into consideration the habits of the species you are keeping in determining what would be good for them, and for your wallet. Lol! Keep in mind the formula is for 1 or 2 fish. If you plan on keeping a handful you should add some L & W and possibly some height. Nice thing about keeping local is they don't need the tank heated and some will suffer if you do. Make sure you read up a bit on the habits of the bass and you will find all the answers you need. Another thing to keep in mind if you are going to go catch the fish and keep them is that you CAN NOT release them back to the wild. I did not know that it was a no no years ago to release local caught fish back to the wild so just an FYI. Concerns of introducing disease and other things is the reason why you can't and also the fish have less of a chance surviving because they are accustomed to being fed and not hunting for food. Sorry about the long post. Good luck!

People have kept striped bass.....but considering in my local lake they get to be 40 pounds + and 4foot+ I would say you would need a tank of similar size to a RTC......BUT striped bass are really really active swimmers so I would allocate even more space for them.....so it's probably very improbable for the home hobbyist to keep one.
