I saved a striped raphael catfish from a person who didnt want him anymore and decided she was gonna stop feeding him and let him die:cry:.
I currently have him in a temporary 10 gallon quarantine tank. The only problem is I dont have a suitable tank to put him in. Will he be okay in my 120 gallon african cichlid tank. My Ph is about 7.8-7.9, and i know he needs a lower Ph and hardness. But i cant change it just for him, so can he adjust to my water quality and still be healthy? Are my africans to aggressive for him?

Thanks for the help....

**BTW..... Hes for sale if you want him......PM me**

He should be fine with the African Cichlids. Lots of fish choose not to mess with these guys, just because of the spines all over they're body.

Well, that doesn't stop them from picking on plecos :(

lol, but Plecos are different... My Common Oscar and Common Pleco fight non-stop. Although the pleco normally wins...
I do have my Pleco with Central American Cichlids and African Cichlids with no issues. (Well, besides the Oscar fighting him)

Haha I just have had a deep hate for African Cichlids ever since they killed my baby pleco I got from walmart a long time ago :)

I have a 4" raphael and it pushes around my 6" salmon cat and i suspect he is the one that is chewing up my pleco at night time. otherwise a pretty cool fish to have.

The raph will hold his own against the cichlids. No doubt. As for water conditions, they are pretty tough fish, so yours can probably adapt to the higher Ph.

what would be better housed with a lemon oscar and JD in the raphael family. i only have spotted raph's and striped raph's available around here. which would be better suited with this duo?
