Striped Raphael- FYI!!!

Hi,

I went to a LFS I recently discovered over the weekend. I am raising a Striped Raphael Catfish and most of the info I have found online has them maxing at 8". This store had 3 monstrous SRC's, one (the smallest) was probably just shy of 8", the Middle was 10"(+- and the big papa one was well over 12", I'm leaning towards 14"+, I was amazed. I was so tempted to take a picture, but as I just found it I didnt want to rock the boat or weird them out. Anybody else on here have or seen such a big SRC?

Also why do some have yellowish body's (like my little guy and the 8" one I saw) and then some of them have white body's? is it a male/female thing, or a size thing or just genetics?

I own two, neither of which are as big as you say. However, at one of my LFS they have a few that are easily a foot. I read the same thing that they'd max out at about 7 or 8 which is cool but w/e, I've got the room if they keep going. I just wish mine were a little more active! One of mine has bloated to the point where I think I might be getting eggs soon! Idk though, I sure hope so that'd be fun to watch.

Im not sure if you are aware, but there is a "giant" raphael,
Megalodoras uranoscopus


You may find the petshop ones were these, as they are known to grow up to 18 inches in captivity. Hope that helps.
