Striped Raphel Catfish

Mine just kicked the bucket =(, he was about 9 years give or take a year from what I was told by the previous owners. So I was wondering did he die of old age? Or am I a bad fish keeper =(. Nothing looked wrong about him so did he live a full life? I read in different places their lifespan is 7-9 years then others 13 and up.

Either way I'm sad he's dead

Did you just get him or did you have him for a while? How big was it though.


I have a 12 year old... maybe 13 now stripped and 12 year old spotted I know of some raphaels that get older than that.

I've had him for about 2 months, he was in bad conditions and not verry active before, I cleaned out his tank real good and got it nice and "sparkling" and he became a lot more active he'd swim all over the tank and even splash water at the surface some times was so cute.

i have one on reserve thats about 6 inches at the lfs. his coloration and stripes are so beautiful! i cant wait i hope he is as active as yours was! sorry for your loss=[
