Just got back from the LFS and they had a fish that looked like a severum but had black and white stripes like a convict cichlid. It has a little red blended into its back fin but for the most part it looked like a convict however I am fairly certain it was some time of severum. I tried to take a pic but it didnt come out, so anyone know what kinda fish this is? they are willing to sell it to me for 3.99

Juvenile Severums usually have stripes, but I have never heard of the red blended part on their tails when Juvenile. There is a possibility that it could be a Convict Cichlid. It would be helpful if there was a picture. Good Luck!

haha yea i realize a picture would be helpful but the phone owuldnt cooperate. I knew that baby convicts had stripes but I thought it was generally the green severums with the dark stripes. This fish had uniform white greyish stripes and then black stripes. Is there any more rare severum besides the green or gold severum that this fish could be?

buy it and then take pix worst comes to worst u have a nice convict :D

haha i was just thinking that like 1 minute ago...i think im going to set up a ten gallon grow out tank until it reaches an appropriate size for my 100g

haha i wish my memory was that good but unfortunately im not sure. i just set up my 30 long though and im plannin on going back tommorow or wednesday to buy him. is there any cool type of severum that it could be with stripes and colors of a convict? (besides a convict lol)
