Feed meaty foods. Gets 12". Pretty peaceful. Sand or pea gravel substrate. When they are small they will hide a lot but once they get bigger they will come out a little more. Need anything more post up. I have 4 peacocks 2 tire tracks and 2 fire eels.
They love live blackworms. I have two striped peacock eels. One is getting pretty big and is close to 8 inches and is a fatty. Here's a couple pics for you. When they're first introduced into a new tank, they'll hide a lot but once they're comfortable w/ their new tank you will see them more often. My two eels rarely hide under the sand and are always out looking for food. Here's a pic.
How predatory are they? I have a tank with a small Leopard Bushfish (1") and 4 Congo Tetras (1.5"-2") that I would like to live if I get one. The eels that I saw for sale were around 5"-6"
I actually just bought one last night from Petsmart. It is in with my marbled gobies. The max size is 25", not 12". The normal peacock eel is 12" but these are the 1 stripe peacock eel. Here is a link to their info..
peacocks get 12inches, ive never ever seen one past 11inches, tanganyika ones are the coolest looking by far, much more expensive and hard to find, cichlids.net sells those tho
