Just got a steal of a tank with a 90 Gallon with all accessories for 200 dollars from a guy getting out of the fish business, and I'm moving my 55 Gallon fresh into it, and am now wanting to move the Salties in my 29G biocube into the 55.

This is where it gets tricky. The Biocube came with practically everything, and now I have to start basically from scratch. I have two Marineland Penguin 350B filters I plan to use in the 55. I have the thermometer, and the heater. I know I need a protein skimmer, but this tank doesn't have precut holes for a sump or anything of the sort, can anyone recommend a good HOB protein skimmer?

And besides this what else would I need to get the tank going for my saltwater boys? Any answers would be appreciated, this won't be a sudden move, as we're going to save to make sure we have everything before making the transition.

Thanks!

yah for a hob overflow would only be bout 30-50 bucks plus plumbing which is another 10$, then you would need a sump 20g at petsmart= 30$ and a return pump and that depends on what you want. the penguins are good, i would go with a octopus skimmer, Aquacave.com under skimmer/hob and your gonna need lights if you do corals. thats about it mang

Hello and congrats :)

I have a 29 brackish tank with two Penguin 150s. My SG is 1.008, not near has heavy as your SW tank will be. I have lots of trouble with my bio-wheels turning. I actually had trouble with them when the tank was FW, but its even worse now.

They still pump and filter well, but I have pretty much given up on the bio-wheel feature. Your's has much more flow and a bigger wheel so you may be OK...only wanted to pass along the experiences I had with salt and bio-wheels.

Good luck!

Yea, sumping a 20 would probably be more effort than it was worth.

AquaC makes a nano skimmer now, that might be worth looking into.
