Hello everyone, I have had my two gar for awhile now and ever since I brought them home there fins appeared to be getting shorter. At first I had thought maybe it was fin rot, even though they didn't have any fungus/discoloration on the edges so I raised the temp added salt and bumped up the water changes which didn't help at all. There fins got to a length where they didn't seem to be getting any shorter, but also not growing back. I then thought the substrate was causing there fins to wear down since it mainly effected the fins they used to scoot across the bottom of the tank so I swapped out my old gravel for some smoother stuff. Now it appears their fins are growing back in some spots, but not much. It kind of looks like thin little lines of the fin are growing back but the rest of the fin is still short. I was just wondering if there is a way to make the rest of the fin grow back? Thanks in advance for any help.
