When my Rusty and Zebra mated this summer, I isolated the mom just to make sure she was ok and to have some fun seeing the fry be born.
I put them in the adult tank at 2 weeks old, figuring they would be food in no time. The adults chased them and I figured it was only a matter of time until they were all eaten.
Well these guys are survivors. 10 of the 11 spawned are alive and kicking at 3 months old. They are out and about and the adults have grown tired of chasing them.
I like having them because they keep the tank clean, eating everything that isn't nailed down. Just don't know what I am going to do with them next year when they get bigger - time to look into getting that 125 I wanted!!!
