Dear monster fish keepers,

I have alot of question's about the fish i might have to except from my friend, his fish tank cracked and is leaking alot of water, so i told him ill tend to his fish till he can get a new tank but he says he doesnt want to stay in this hobbie. so i might have to find home's for these fish the fish list includ's 3 oscar's (1 black tiger,1 black tiger long finned, and 1 albino tiger). 1 green terror,1 ornate bichir 8 inch, and a small pleco the oscar's are under 6 inches! the fish i have already is redtail cat,1 shovel nose 9 inch, large8 inch oscar, jaguar and a flowerhorn!

can any body tell what fish is worth keeping from the fish im getting? and also i dont understand black backgrounds/ or no back grounds on some of these amazing tanks on mfk.com does it make the fish look better? and sand or gravel for cichlids which is better?

sorry for the over load im just flooded with
question's and i know i could get some real
answer's on here.... THANKS IN ADVANCE:nutkick:

All of them are worth keeping. But if thats not possibel for you, I'd jsut keep the Bichir and Green Terror.

Backgrounds can make the tank look better, but it also adds sense of security to the fish. With gravel color, light colors will fade the fishes colors and dark will brighten it. Sand is cool to use if you like the look.

to be honest i was thinking on keeping the long finned oscar he is pretty cool looking ifi keep the bichir i might have to many bottom feeders right?! man i need this stress like a hole in the head....

"but he says he doesnt want to stay in this hobbie. so i might have to find home's for these fish "

Sounds like your friend should take responsibility for his own fish. You were nice enough to house them for awhile. Why should you be the one stuck with the responsibility of finding them new homes? If he just wanted you to house them for awhile, while he found new homes for them, that would be different. Just my opinion

If you have a RTC in a 75 honestly I would try finding a home for that fish and keeping more of the others you are given. Not sure how big it is right now but within the first year a RTC will usually be 13-18 inches. From there of course they just keep getting bigger ! A 75 is not big enough for them to comfortably turn around. Not to mention the ridiculous amount of waste they produce.

You haviing an rtc and a tsn in a 75 is a good way to kill them, large catfish like that require very large amounts of water, like 500 gallons per foot. If you keep them in the you are bound to give them ENARDO syndrome. That is Enhanced Nitrate And Reduced Dissolved Oxygen. This WILL kill them. I say find those catfish a new home and same with the other 3 Oscars. A 75 is a good size for one Oscar but not 2 or 4. If you removed the large catfish from your tank you could possibly keep the GT in with the Oscar and the Bichir should do fine.

Wow! I didn't really notice your stock the first time. I was just paying attention to the fact that your friend stuck you with his fish. How big of an aquarium did your friend have? You and your friend need to find homes for those fish(including some of yours). His extra fish are putting yours in even more danger.

yeah get rid of Rtc and keep Oscar bichir :P or get a huge tank and keep them all :D
