I'm stuck trying to find a decent tank mate for my rays :(
I have a 200 sommet galon tank 72x30x30 with a female marble motoro and henlie x mantilla with a bunch of bichir's and a l191 plec.

The bichir's i'm trying to sell atm as they're a worry being in the tank.

I have 8 tin foils for the tank (they're currently being treated for an infection in a differernt tank atm) and a Dat Campbelli in the other tank but i cant put it in with the bichir's.

I've tried a florida gar but it came victim of the motoro ray and i was left with a nicely filleted gar.

I've tried a high fin catfish but it now has no eye's

I have been thinking about zebra shovelnose but they're hard to obtain at a decent size.
Wouldn't mind and arrowana but silver's get to big, jardini to agressive , black's are rare to find at a good enough size not to be eaten. Asian's are expensive.

Any idea's for a decent catfish or other really good ray tank mates? Would need to be available at decent size's and not to expensive.

Can get the following :
walking catfish approx 12" although i do love these not sure i'd trust one with rays!

a pair of wild caught Severus True Heros, breeding pair at £30 approx 8" - i would love these as the price is cheap any experience with rays ? would the young just work as feeder's for the rays?

Pike Cichlid's at 7" - not sure of the species, i'd imagine these are too agressive?

I wouldnt worry to much about a smaller black arowana, have seen one kept with a 18" marble who made a meal of just about everything in that tank. It was about 6". Only things to survive with her was a silver arowana, a black arowana, a jardini arowana, and a clown knife.

I keep clown knifes with all my rays, some of the rays are 24", they seem to be fast enough and good enough at hiding that they survive. You will want to get them at a decent size though, i got mine at about 6".

If you don't already know keep an eye on that pleco

Tin foils make great ray tank mates you will love them

Look into a Niger or Irwini cat as possible tankmates

I tried to find a good sized irwini but they're a pain to find at a good size and don't fancy trying with a smallish one as i'd imagine they;d do some damage to any fish that tries to eat them.
I've seen some really big niger catfish but they get to big imo for the tank.

The plec has been ok so far but i am keeping an eye on it, it mainly stays attached to the wood and get's a good supply of food :)

Frontosas, clown knives, tigrinus, any arows (try a leichardti) geophagus, large silver dollars, tinfoils, oscars, flag tails, tiger shovelnose cat, have all worked for me. Got my tigrinus when he was about 4 inches and the rays were about 7. He hid out in a cave I made him and grew pretty quickly. He is now about 13 inches and bold enought to come out and fight for his space.

the best tankmates for stingrays are............................ MORE STINGRAYS!!!!
