stung by a Monster Jelly

I was on vacation and just got back from Folly Beach South Carolina, I was in the water about 3 whole minutes...this thing was huge and wrapped itself around my legs and even on my stomache and even my hands because it wouldnt get off of me and i was tyring to pull it off...after a shot of dimeral and a dr's visit im feeling a bit better. Dr said this was the worst sting she has seen, she thinks it may have either been a sea notal or a very very huge jelly fish.

5 days later

all my niece keeps asking is

"Jamie did those jellies get your legs and your feets??? Did that hurt when the jellies got you?"

I doubt a manowar, I think the Dr.'s guess at an atlantic sea nettle seems more likely. The most common on the west coast is the moon jelly but they don't get that big. The sea nettle can get pretty big and have longer tenticles that could wrap around you. Thats a pretty bad sting, they usually have only an irritation to the skin, you might have had an allergic reaction.
