My pet store has had 3 Geo. Altifrons in an ~8 gallon tank since I first saw them in May 2012 or before. They are about 4 inches, about the same size as they have been for the past year. Will this have any long term effects on them? Will they still grow into large healthy adults?

4" is small for altifrons, especially if they've been the same size for a year. I'd say they're stunted.
