I found a female motoro in my local area and decided to pick her up. I get there and he tells me she’s 2-3 years old but she’s only a 9” disc. I was amazed because she was fat and healthy and had a good sized tank. I decided to pick her up anyway because she was cheap and I knew I could give her a good home. He showed me her eating shrimp when I got there but He told me she used to be feed only feeder goldfish for a long time until he learned that’s not a good diet for rays which is why I’m guessing she is stunted. Would you guess she’s stunted for life or continue to grow?

Also the tank she’s in is only a QT and she has super fine sand on her back from his tank! Nothing weird going on with her disc before anyone says anything about it lol.

Hi, unfortunately I know nothing about rays so I can't help you. But DIDYSIS DIDYSIS or JK47 JK47 might be able to or maybe know someone who can. :)

Stunted or not she's still very cute though. :)

I’ve seen a number of small motoros in large setups/good breeders that were perfectly healthy and breed often, just small.

If she is eating well and she appears in good health (awful big back there), you got yourself a great ray.

Hello, The motoro you have might be stunted and might not be. Some rays do not take to food really well and fast and grow a bit slower but others of course are placed in odd situations and have problems for it mostly with giving birth to pups from my experience vs anything else. She looks good though so enjoy and appreciate her. I knew a stunted motor female at 9ish inches but she was about 6-7 years old. She would give birth to one or two tiny tiny pups but they never did well.
