I got two Texas yesterday for my red Texas project. Both are 1.5".these guys were in the lfs in a 10 with bout 10 other Texas the same size. The were there for about 3 months maybe longer. Last night I did a 80% water change and they started doing the mating dance. This morning they kept doing it so I vented one male and one female. Are they stunted?

Judging from your discription they very well might be. The eyes are pretty big for the body size but that isn't always a good indicator. I would do plenty of frequent water changes and start them on a high quality food. You could end up with a couple of stunners that take off, however there is always the chance they wouln't reach max potential. It's hard to tell at this point and I don't want to discourage you from trying.

I've got em on blood worms every other day and hikari cichlid staple and some baby Oscar pellets that made my festaes grow like weeds. I'm gunna try to grow them out and see how big they get ill let them in my 95 with a parrot or two

Many times, fish stuck in a small tank with lots of siblings, will show little or no growth. You may be surprised that they will have an unbelievable growth spurt now that you have them in good uncrowded conditions, if you provide them with lots of water changes.

Then these guys should grow fast since I had to increase the amount of water changes and how much I change since adding a pleco
