Very much south..
Well i was picking this guy up for treatment and he jumped inside the inflow column where space to pick him out is non existent. With my brutish hands i managed hower to pick him out by grabbing him by the thick lips....:(

Result, left half of his upper lip is shorn away.

He acts normally, but i am not feeding, obviously.

I fear the ever present risk of secondary bac infections.....

The results. :(

Beautiful fish. What is he?
I once had a freak breeding mishap where my female beat the $hit out of my male and completely tore off his upper lip. Well, lo and behold, his lips grew back which AMAZED me. I'm pretty sure your little guys lip will grow back as well.

Sure hope so, Evo.

It is a Kamalau FH

I have lost fish to simple mistakes like forgotten prime and no amount of experience or years in hobby will prevent this.

On another note i had a leporinus with a lip ripped off almost exactly like yours. He recovered very well. Dont wait like i did to treat for/prevent secondary infections my friend.

I am Emily. Heavy on salt now. I see no change in posture. Will keep a very close eye.
