Stupid Algae Blooms..

Ok.. so what can be causing it? I know it's typically a sign of high nitrates but I've had a bloom for about 2 weeks now.. I've tested my nitrates ever since and they have not gone above 15.. they are currently at 12.5. It's a 120g with one 7" Dovii, 29g wet / dry and about 120 scrubbies plus other bio media. I do 50-60% WC every Saturday. I know going dark for a few days will kill it but why would it have started???

in your case, it should be the lighting thats causing the problem. is the tank next to a window?

No, it's in my basement and there are no windows. I do have dual T8 daylight bulbs over it, but at the most they are on for about 7 hours. I typically leave them off unless I'm in the basment.
