Stupid Cichlids

I lost a Gold Saum this morning cuz the other fish in my 55g ate all the scales off of it, which wasn't that big of a deal, but I got a new F1 Festae today and 3 hours later, I had to remove it from the 55 cuz it was getting beat up and it's about the same size as the others. My Tiger Oscar is messing with my Front some, too. Sorry, just wanted to vent.

I'm not sure which fish are beating them up. The largest Jag only bothers them when they get too close to the piece of driftwood it stays under and the other jags, convict, and gold saum don't seem to bother anyone. I'm not sure whether the uro, midas/rd or flowerhorn are the worst. I guess I'll just have to keep watching them and start getting rid of the bad ones. They all seemed fine up till a couple of days ago when the larger Gold Saum started getting split fins. Maybe, I need more hiding spots. I hope my RT makes it Maybe, when I took out the red oscar and put it into my 125, I removed the peace maker or something. I think, maybe, that it was the dominant one and now the others are trying to fill in.

Hey pwmin, did ya get the festae from Mikes? I got the F0 festae today, had it in my tank for 30 minutes and one of the "petsmart trimac" was beating the crap out of it. So moved the trimac to another tank. He's doing OK now. You could be right with the dominate fish thing, I know I have a 8" Red devil and a 5" green terror that seem to break up most fighting.

yes, i did. i was there from about 2:30 to 3:00. i didn't see the F0, so i assume you were there before i was (i knew where it was supposed to be because the "label" was still on the tank). i also picked up one of the laps. the tiger O is going back in the 55. My front has priority of all the cichs. The red O never bothered anyone and it's twice as large as the others. Maybe it was keeping the others in check. hopefully, the tiger O will do better back in the 55, but it seems pretty aggressive for an O, so it will probably go. too bad, because I like tiger O's a lot better than red O's. The cichs are growing up pretty well and I'm getting to the point where I'm going to start culling some out and they should be able to go into the 125 pretty soon and free up the 55 for the jar.

Well, RT got beat up, so I put it in a tank by itself, but it died the next day. Guess I won't try introducing any more fish into that tank. The Tiger O quit picking on the Front, so it's staying in there for now. Everyone seems to getting along fine again in the 55. Looks like the trimac and the midas are the worst ones, so they'll probably be going to another home. I know, real big shocker there The Gold Saum that was killed was twice the size of my other one. Not sure why the larger one was killed.
